Texas Bowl

Good morning!  We have made it through Championship Saturday and are now on to Selection Sunday.  The Big 12 Championship game last night was heart-stopping.  If Hunter Lawrence had not made that last second field goal, Nebraska would be going up to a BCS game with Texas, leaving us without a team from the Big 12 Conference.

But that is over and we are absolutely sure we will have a team from the Big 12.  Throughout the day, we will be updating our blog as action happens and we prepare to make our announcement.  We hope to see you at the Texas Bowl on December 31 here at Reliant Stadium!

8:15am - Just got to the office, going through our Board List to verify who will be on our 9:00am conference call

8:30am - Pulling stats from a select group of Big 12 teams to review with the Board

9:00am - The Board call has just begun.  We can’t discuss our potential teams at this time, but each of them have great stories we can bring to the Houston community.

9:35am - Just finished the Board call.  On that note, I would like to take a moment to thank our Board of Directors.  This group of people from the Houston community have believed in the bowl game since we began in 2006 and have spent countless hours working with the bowl to ensure its success.  We could not be where we are today without their help.

9:40am - We are done with activities for the morning.  We will be back at noon when we project to get a phone call from the Big 12 Conference. 

12:00pm- Back at the desk.  We are still waiting on word from the Big 12 Conference.  It may be a while yet before we know out Big 12 team.  In the meantime, I am putting the final touches on our Bowl Manual.  This is a 110 page document that goes through all of the ins and outs for Bowl Week and Gameday.  It is pretty intense, but it is best to get as much information to the school as possible before their site visit.

12:18pm - Just turned on the Houston Texans game.  Wishing them the best of luck against Jacksonville!

2:47pm - Still waiting…

3:24pm - We have our team.  Announcement will be made momentarily!

4:29pm - It is offical!  The Missouri Tigers will face the Navy Midshipmen in the 2009 Texas Bowl on December 31, 2009 at Reliant Stadium.  We are extatic to host these two storied programs in what is sure to be one of the best matchups of Bowl Season.
