Here are the details:

Lone Star Sports & Entertainment Internship
Assist the staff of this Houston Texans affiliate in providing world-class marketing, sales and event management services by coordinating logistics and executing LSSE-sponsored events and assisting with sponsor fulfillment and activation.  Applicants must be available to assist in all of the Texas Bowl’s Bowl Week activities and on the day of the Texas Bowl (approximately December 26-December 31).

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are able to commit to a full-time work schedule (8:30am-5:30pm, weekends and evenings as necessary) for the Fall semester (tentatively September 1, 2010 through the conclusion of the Texas Bowl)
• Are required to work at least 300 hours for the Fall semester in order to satisfy formal college credit internship program requirements
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Have a passion to work in the professional sports industry and are ready to make an impact on the Houston Texans and Lone Star Sports & Entertainment

Education/Experience
Must be currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s or higher degree from a four-year accredited college or university; must be enrolled in formal internship program whereby college credit is earned for hours worked in lieu of wages; degree in Marketing or Sports Management preferred; experience in sports management and/or event planning environment preferred.

Skills Required

• Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software, with exceptional skills in Power Point
• Proficiency in use of Internet for research purposes
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications
• Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information

Job Function

• Assist the LSSE staff with event logistics, sponsor fulfillment and activation and grassroots marketing efforts across all event platforms
• Ability to coordinate groups of volunteers at all Texans homegames
• Coordinate communications and mailings to facilitate the LSSE sales effort
• Help prepare sponsorship proposals
• Conduct research and analysis on behalf of LSSE utilizing the Internet and trade publications
• Coordinate internal and external meetings logistics
• Assist in the execution of all LSSE events
• Work with vendors on a project by project basis
• Perform various other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Marketing Events Coordinator and Events Coordinator and other LSSE staff
• Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with staff, peers, and other Business Operations or Team personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Team offices and not in a telecommuting manner
